1948 PEUGEOT 202 BH

HIGHLIGHTS

  • We present this Peugeot 202 BH, also known as the "cross-eyed car", because of its two headlights placed close together behind the heart-shaped grille on the hood.
  • Built by the French company between January 1938 and October 1948, its aerodynamic design was inspired by the lines of the Chrysler/De Soto Airflow.
  • Under the front hood is a 1.1L four-cylinder engine that delivers around 30hp of power, transmitted to the rear wheels through a 3-speed manual gearbox plus reverse gear.
  • The kilometer counter of this unit shows 36,200Km.

"*This vehicle has a Reserve Price. If said price is not reached, it will not be awarded to the winning bidder."

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

  • This Peugeot 202 BH is presented in an elegant black color with a small red stripe that runs along its aerodynamic body from front to rear, on a dark gray interior.
  • The original red rims together with the bumpers and the various chrome moldings complete the image of the 1940s.
  • The original user's book is included with the sale.
CONDITION

  • This Peugeot 202 was registered in its country of origin, France, in 1948 and was imported to Spain by its current and second owner in 2008.
  • Once in Spain, the car has benefited from a bodywork restoration in which small damages accumulated over the years have been repaired and it has been completely repainted in its original color. As a result, the paintwork is in perfect condition, with no marks or damage to any of its panels.
  • The overall condition of the vehicle is very good, and there are no areas to be repaired for corrosion or dents. The underbody of the car looks as good as the visible part of the bodywork.
  • The interior has been reupholstered during the aforementioned restoration to repair wear and discoloration, so it looks equally in perfect condition.
  • The engine is preserved original, since both its first owner and the current owner have covered very few kilometers with the car.
  • It has been tested and no mechanical or electrical failures have been detected.
SERVICE HISTORY

  • The maintenance of this unit since it has been in Spain has always been carried out following the guidelines required for an engine of this type by a workshop specializing in classic vehicles. It has received its last general maintenance a year ago, having traveled just 90Kms since then, so it is without pending work.
  • This Peugeot is with ITV in force until 2025.
SUMMARY

SUMMARY

In 1938 Peugeot presented a little brother of its 402 with a body that copied its style, but somewhat more modest and less powerful mechanics. The new Peugeot 202 was striking for its very aerodynamic lines for the time, with the rear wheels carenadas and headlights behind the grille, instead of on the fins, to reduce the front surface.
The Peugeot 202 was the most powerful model in its segment in 1938 and its performance was surprising.
It could be said that the Peugeot 202 was something like the GTi of its time.
